UF1 Series Round 6 - Broker Hill, UK

*Takumi : Prasanth
*404 ImDion Not Found : ImDion
It was Texas who claimed pole position for the final round of CUF1 Season 1.
Monster secured 2nd ahead of Hunter, who was finally showing his speed.
Newcomer Luigi put himself on a brilliant 4th on his first ever qualifying session, ahead of Prasanth.
Evo qualified 6th, just behind Pras, with Marcus, Mate and a off-the-pace Dion rounding up the slightly smaller grid of 9.
Sadly, main championship contender ltras suffered an hardware electrical issue before Qualifying began, which meant he was not able to partake in the championship deciding finale.
Gaz, S2KTS, SeanLau, Iodine, Renaultguy, Alex and Zonda were not able to make it for the event.

It was Texas who proved best in the race, leading a brilliant lights-to-finish race.
The race start saw Evo bobbing down, being passed down to 8th by Marcus and Mate as the field charged into the sweeping turn 1 and 2.
Amazingly, the field made it mostly intact exiting turn 2 except for Dion who found himself facing the wrong way after spinning.

Texas leads the pack out of turn 2
As the field headed down to turn 3, it was drafting fiesta as everyone tried to pull alongside each other.
Braking into the turn 3 hairpin, Luigi made a pass for the lead, pulling alongside Texas into the next corner before falling back to second.

Evo had a wild ride on the grass, and Hunter found himself running into the rear of Monster, sending himself down to the back of the field.
Into lap 2 and it was Luigi coming under pressure in 2nd from Mate and Monster behind. A small mistake into turn 1 was all it took for Mate to pass him, however, both made contact and Monster slipped past both to take 2nd. Luigi had fallen now back to 4th behind Mate, and was now under pressure from Prasanth.
Lap 3 saw Mate make a huge mistake under braking for turn 2, which saw Luigi once again caught up, and Prasanth slipped past both. Luigi passed Mate eventually maintain 4th.
Heading into the final 2 laps, Texas led the pack, with Monster slowly closing down the 2 second gap, when tragedy stuck Prasanth, disconnecting from the server from 3rd place. This elevated Luigi up into the final podium spot, with Mate right behind in 4th, and Marcus closing the pair down. Evo and Hunter scrapped for the final points position, while Dion ran off-pace in what was now last place.
Down into the chicane saw MateCZ clip the barrier, sending him round, and out of his 4th place.
As Texas started the final lap, the gap of the lead was smaller than ever, with Monster setting fastest lap after fastest lap, closing the once large gap to now just 1 second. A passing attempt from Hunter into the chicane saw him prevail, going up into 5th passing Mate.
It was victory number 3 for Texas, after fending off Monster. Luigi came home a well deserved 3rd, with Marcus trailing behind in 4th, finishing what was again a strong performance. Hunter recovered to finish 5th ahead of Mate, while Evo was buried in the back with troubles.

The feature race once again saw a dominant Texas claim his 4th ever win in the series, crushing his opponents with a 8 second lead on the finish.
A slow start from Marcus in 5th saw him fall to last in the run down to turn 1.
Coming down into turn 2, Dion inevitably swiped across Evo in a defending attempt, however only to smash into the outside wall.
Mate's race didn't get off to the best of starts, spinning out at turn 2 as Evo held the lead.

Hunter's view as Mate brushed the inside wall
This small incident from Mate saw him drop to last place from 2nd.
At the front though, A strong run from Hunter saw him pass Evo for the lead into turn 3. Monster misjudged his braking, tapping the rear of Luigi and spinning himself down to 8th behind Mate.
An aggressive pass from Dion on Evo down into turn 4 saw Evo pushed into the wall, and Dion taking over 2nd place. For this pass, Dion would receive a reprimand for causing a collision.
Texas found his way past Dion when he made a mistake down into the last corner, and Luigi capitalised, grabbing 3rd from Dion down the main straight.
Into lap 2 and a dive down the inside of Dion by Evo saw him take each other off into the wall at turn 2. For this, Evo would receive his 2nd reprimand of the season.
Mate slid off into the wall avoiding the slow moving Dion, allowing Monster past for 7th. A mistake from Evo under braking saw Monster storm past, and also past Dion as he made an unforced error into turn 4.
Into lap 3 and Texas was chasing down the leader, Hunter. Luigi maintained 3rd, with Marcus and Monster slowly catching up. Evo ran in sixth, ahead of Dion and Mate.
Lap 4 and it was sweatmode for Texas, pulling alongside down the backstraight down to turn 3 as Hunter ran wide, and completing the move under braking, taking the lead.

Monster also made a pass for 4th on Marcus, into the fast chicane, but a failure to yield by Marcus saw him take a battering after contact was made. Luckily, he was able to continue.

Two into one doesn't fit!
This incident allowed Evo past Marcus for 5th.
In the final 3 laps saw a monumental chase for the lead, with Hunter keeping to the rear of Texas. Another battle brewing was for the final podium spot, with Monster harassing Luigi left and right, but unable to find a way past.
Small mistakes by Hunter left Texas to run away with another victory, his 4th of his career in UF1 Series. Luigi fended off the attacks from Monster to come home in 3rd, and Evo finished a strong 5th ahead of MateCZ. Dion limped home to finish the season in 7th.
The champion of Season 1 is Monster! A hollow victory, with ltras unable to take the fight to the end. A good battle throughout the season and great entertainment in every battle.
Thank you for sticking around with us throughout Season 1 of the UF1 Championship. It's been a great season. What will we see next Season?

UF1 Series Round 5 - Ebisu, Japan

*Nub behind da wheel : SeanLau (TsunSean/8Roku)
Qualifying was dominated once again by series leader Monster, blitzing to pole position on his final run, over half a second ahead of nearest championship rival, ltras. Newest entrant Texas qualified a respectable third ahead of a on-pace Sean.
Renaultguy qualified his highest yet on 5th, just 1 thousandth ahead of iodine^2, with his own best qualifying. Zonda pipped Dion for 7th.
In the series' lowest attendance yet, only 8 out of the 16 participated.
Hunter, Evo, Marcus, Alex, MateCZ, Gaz, S2KTS and Prasanth failed to make today's event.

The sprint race was one to be remembered for Texas, leading a splendid lights-to-finish victory, on his debut. The start was slightly chaotic, with little bumps into turn 2 pushing both Monster and ltras down the grid. It all came down to earth for Zonda, with a tangle with Iodine on lap 2 sending him back to last, where, unable to recover, he would finish.
Meanwhile, at the front, Texas extended his lead, as ltras passed Monster for 3rd, and set after Sean.
However, on lap 5, some aggressive defending from the Malaysian saw ltras come unstuck, with Monster now right on his gearbox.
For the final 2 laps, Monster fought past ltras, and attacked Sean into turn 4 on the final lap. However, Sean closed the door, surprising Monster, who slowed. ltras capitalised, passing the Singaporean just before the final corner, however, misjudged his braking, allowing him back past, where a short run to the finish saw him lose out by just 5 thousands of a second.
Sean pulled away to secure 2nd ahead of the pair of Monster and ltras.

The feature race did not go smoothly as anticipated, with 3 restarts due to catastrophic incidents, mostly with lag spikes sending cars over the walls.

Third time lucky! Final restrat after a massive turn 1 crash when ltras, Monster and Sean went side by side.
The race finally got underway proper on the third attempt.
A sluggish getaway for renaultguy from 3rd allowed ltras to claim position 3 as the field ploughed to turn 2
As the drivers negotiated and exited turn 3, Renault tapped both Zonda and ltras -who had just gotten the lead, spinning him around and into last place.
As the drivers headed into the braking zone for turn 5, Iodine made a move down the inside of Renault for the lead. However, an uncanny late defensive move to cover him off resulted in Iodine spinning around, and being rear-ended by Sean. This resulted in a lag-crash between Sean and an innocent Monster, sending both of them back to the pits on only lap 1.

It wasn't a pretty sight for the championship leader, Monster.
Through all of this, however, Texas managed to slide his way to the lead, where his pace would be unmatchable to the finish.
Back in the midfield, ltras made his way past iodine on lap 3, and set after Zonda.
Making a move into turn 3 on lap 4, ltras misjudged his move and spun Zonda around. Carrying on without returning the place, ltras would receive a 5 second post-race penalty for causing a collision and illegal overtake.

One hit and around he went. The incident between ltras and Zonda over 3rd place
It was pretty much plain sailing for the middle part of the race, with Texas extending his lead, and ltras closing down Renaultguy for 2nd place. Iodine held on to 4th, with Zonda chasing him down, while Monster and SeanLau ran a lap down in 6th and 7th.
Into the last 2 laps and the battle for 2nd heated up. Renault defended his best against ltras, however, on the penultimate lap, he lost his place through a superb manouver by the Indonesian.
It was back-to-back wins for debutant Texas, again showing anything is possible in this series.
Do join us in January 7th 2017 (to be finalised) for the last race of Season 1 of this UF1 Series!

Qualifying was headed once again by Monster, who set a 1:15.65, 2 hundreths clear of closest title rival ltras. Hunter placed third with a time of 1:16.12, followed by new-comer Alex Doerfler and Marcus. Sean (8Roku) rounded off the top 6.
Gaz, Prasanth and S2KTS missed out on the event.

The sprint race was a surprise for everyone, with Alex coming out on top of series leaders Monster and ltras to claim his first win on his debut.
The race start saw Monster passed by ltras while Hunter got tagged by Alex following a divebomb by Evo, sending the Hong Konger into a half spin.
Most of the field manouvered past Hunter except Evo and Sean, who both got caught up in the incident.

Spins by Dion and Renault at the chicane caused iodine to run into the latter, suffering damage that would end his race later on. MateCZ nearly turned turtle after a slight misjudgement on the final corner, and Dion suffered damage after running into the wall.
Monster was ran out wide by ltras into the swimming pool chicane, leaving the door open for Alex to take 2nd place.
For most of the race, the field was bunched into 2 groups, the leading 4 of ltras, Alex, Monster and Marcus, and midfield pack of Zonda, Hunter, Renault and Evo. Dion, iodine, Mate and Sean ran at the rear with damage and poor pace.
Battles were few and far between, with the battle for the lead and Evo versus Renaultguy being the only entertainment for the most part.
Sean pitted with 4 laps to go and called it quits after damage made his steering hard to handle.
With 1 lap remaining, the battle for the lead intensified with Alex throwing a dummy on ltras at turn 1, switching back to the inside for turn 2, taking the lead.
Hunter passed Zonda at turn 5 for 5th place.
But it was a great first win for Alex, proving his raw speed in these agile cars.

It was back-to-back victories for new-comer Alex here at Monaco, once again proving he has the pace to challenge the front runners.
The feature race got underway, with Alex passing 4 cars into turn 1 after Zonda braked early, catching Marcus and ltras by surprise. A slight wall tap sent Marcus to the back of the field, behind Zonda.
Turn 2 saw reverse grid polesitter Iodine throwing his lead away after running wide into the barriers, gifting the lead to Sean. Down into turn 3 saw Mate spinning both Hunter and Iodine around, the latter whom which was collected by Zonda and Monster, with Marcus tangling up in the pile up.

Mate would receive a 5 second penalty for causing a collision, finishing 3rd ahead of Hunter by 1 second.
Braking down into turn 7, Alex broke late passing Renault for 2nd, and set chase for Sean in the lead. A lag spike saw Hunter punt ltras off, however no blame is to be issued. Because of this, ltras fell into 8th behind Marcus, with Monster right behind. Hunter and Dion made slight contact coming into the last few corners, with Marcus slipping by to take 6th from Hunter.
At the last corner of the first lap, Alex made a daring move up the inside for the lead, catching Sean by surprise. He had made his way from last to first, passing 10 cars in 1 lap. An astonishing feat that would see him hold and extend his lead to the finish.
Meanwhile, the mid field battle between 5th and 8th was heating up, with Dion, Marcus, ltras, Hunter and Monster all swapping paint as they battled.
However, it all came to tears, when Dion closed the door on Marcus just before the swimming pool, creating a bunching that saw ltras take to the runoff to avoid the mayhem, going head over heels and over the guardrail, putting an premature end to his race.

The onboard view from Monster was nothing short of terrifying
It looked like Renaultguy would hold down a podium, but as the laps counted down, Mate passed him, and he was slowly being caught by the pack behind.
Marcus was the first to get a taste of Renault's aggressive defending, with multiple weaving and blocks eventually spinning him around, dropping him behind Monster. Hunter was now attacking Renaultguy for 4th. Several attempts later and Hunter was up into 4th. Now Monster was given a face full of Renaultguy, and shortly dispatched of him, with a elegant and simple pass into turn 1. Two shoves from Renault didn't put Monster in bother, however.
Renault managed to keep Marcus behind, be it aggressively, to score a solitary point on his 2nd ever race.
But it was all Alex for his debut, taking both fastest laps and both wins, taking full points haul. An amazing debut and an amazing race.

We will see you in a week's time on Saturday where we visit Japan's Ebisu Racetrack for Round 5, the penultimate race for Season 1. Action will be guaranteed, with the largest grid since the beginning of the season.
See you then!

UF1 Series Round 3 - Lmaoring

Qualifying yet again showed the prowess Monster has on his 1 lap pace, grabbing pole by 2 hundredths ahead of championship contender ltras. Mid-season entrant Prasanth qualified a respectable 3rd, just half a second off, whilst S2KTS yet again showed he can mingle with the top, qualifying 4th. Hunter qualified 5th ahead of Evo, who just pipped 8Roku for 6th. Zonda rounded off the grid.
MateCZ, Iodine, Gaz and Marcus.K missed out on the event.

The Sprint race produced a brand new winner, in the form of S2KTS, who took an early lead and defended from Monster.
On the race start, the drivers all got away cleanly and evenly, with drafting throughout the pack. This meant, into turn 1, there were contacts made, with Zonda emerging out behind the field. Heading down into the braking zone for turn 8, chaos took place, with Hunter being taken out, dropping to 7th, where he couldn't advance from to the end of the race. Pras also suffered, dropping off the pace and barely catching up to 8Roku before the finish. However, it was a brilliant race win from S2KTS, who benefitted from a mistake from ltras on lap 2, misjudging his braking and running both himself and Monster wide, giving the lead to S2KTS where he held to the end, denying Monster a win. Evo eventually got past ltras after a mistake from the Indonesian dropped him to forth.
Feature Race Results : 7 LAPS

Zonda : 7th DNF (damage lap 6)
Sean (8Roku) : 8th DNF (accident lap 2)
-
Reverse grid Pole was inherited by Zonda, who looked set to claim his first win. The race kicked off with a even start from the grid, and a clean turn 1, which pulled the pack together, meaning drafting down the back straight would itself cost Zonda 3 places, with Hunter, ltras and Pras sandwiching him and dropping Zonda down to forth.
Down into turn 8, Evo misjudged his braking, sending ltras into Hunter, taking both of them sliding across the track. Zonda too lost control, crashing into the tire wall.
At turn 10, Pras tapped leader Evo, sending both into half spins, collecting KTS in the process, and letting 8Roku slip past into the lead, however, Evo then tapped him around at the last corner, pushing the Malaysian down to 2nd. Behind, Pras and S2KTS made contact, creating a accordion effect, which caused ltras to crash KTS into Monster, and Zonda to then suffer more damage.
At the end of (just) a chaotic lap 1, Evo led from 8Roku, with Pras and ltras giving chase. Hunter closed in in 5th, with Zonda, KTS and Monster in last.
Zonda was passed into turn 1 by ltras, before crashing out heavily at the turn 2 esses, causing damage that would end his race later on.
Down the back straight, Pras made contact with 8Roku, sending him crashing into the wall, ending his race then and there.
ltras passed Pras for 2nd after a aggressive pass into turn 1 on lap 3, and the long chase for the leading Evo began.
It all came crashing down for KTS on lap 5, when he misjudged his braking into the Gaz Complex, rear ending Hunter and putting himself into the wall. He would recover to come home in 6th.
On the penultimate lap, things started to heat up, with ltras and Evo swapping paint and positions as they challenged for the lead. It all came to tears into the complex, after a early turn-in by Evo caught ltras by surprise, causing a collision, spinning both around, and causing a slight pile-up with Pras emerging out in the lead from 3rd place. This kefuffle brought the pack close together again. ltras got a poor exit off the last corner, droping him to 5th behind Monster as the leaders started the final lap.
Down into turn 8 for the last time, Evo broke too late, running wide. As he rejoined from the outside, he clipped ltras, sending him into Monster, who spun right in front of the pair, causing ltras to send the Singaporean airborne, and causing himself to stall. He got his engine restarted, and finished in 5th, just ahead of a recovering KTS, with Evo keeping his composure in the last corners.
It was a eventful race, with many incidents, but it was Prasanth the newcomer who emerged to win the Feature race, with Evo coming home in 3rd, Hunter and Monster just finishing in 3rd and 4th.
Post race, it has been decided that Evo would receive a reprimand for his behaviour during the Feature race, and any further incidents would warrant a penalty.

UF1 Series Round 2 - Hong Kong

Qualifying was headed by Monster, who dominated the session, claiming pole by over 1 second, over a surprisingly on pace Evo. ltras, at the chequered flag, set an identical laptime to Evo, however, as Evo had set it first, he retained his position ahead of the Indonesian.
New comer S2KTS proved his speed, claiming 4th ahead of Marcus and Sean, with Gaz succumbing to a bout of flu, only qualifying 7th, 5 thousands ahead of another newcomer, Mate.
HunterHei missed his home race due to techncial difficulties, along with Zonda.

The sprint race proved to be a walkover for Monster, in a level of his own, cruising to a lights-to-flag victory, 6 seconds ahead of 2nd placed ltras, who passed Evo on the opening lap, making good use of the draft down the back straight . There was a race-long battle for 2nd with both ltras, Evo and S2KTS, before KTS slowly lost touch with the duo, and slowly fell into the clutches of Marcus. However, he managed to take 4th, with Marcus having his hands full with 8Roku (Sean) after the mid-way of the race. Gaz and Mate were involved in a collision, with Mate coming off worse, finishing 8th, 29 seconds off the lead.

The feature race was one to forget for Monster, Gaz and ltras, however, certainly one to remember for Sean and Mate.
The start was surprisingly clean, with Sean passing Gaz for 2nd down into the 1st corner. Mate led the field down the back straight, with the rest drafting behind him.
At turn 2 however, chaos, as ltras misjudged his braking point, diving inside Marcus and Gaz, resulting in Gaz being shunted into the wall. ltras gave his position back to Marcus.
However, things got messy as ltras tapped the rear of Marcus and the pair half spun. In a seperate incident behind, Evo and KTS tangled, with Evo sliding into a stricken Marcus. Evo managed to regain control, retaining 5th, with KTS in 6th, and Gaz passing the recovered Marcus for 7th.
Gaz tangled with Marcus at the last corner, retiring, whilst Marcus continued on in 7th.
At the mid-way point of the race, Sean passed Mate down the straight to the lead, with Monster and ltras in 3rd and 4th behind.
On lap 4, Monster drafted alongside Mate, however, misjudged his braking and spun, with ltras collecting him. Both continued, however, Monster tripped up at the chicane due to damage, causing another incident with ltras and KTS. Monster willingly gave his place to ltras and KTS, falling back to 7th.
ltras found himself stuck behind KTS, unable to pass until lap 7, passing into turn 1, and in the process, opening a gap for Monster. ltras defended his 5th place, however Monster found a way past on lap 8 and held his position to the finish. A damaged Evo limped home to claim 3rd. It was a well deserved victory for 8Roku, leading after lap 1 to the finish.

UF1 Series Round 1 - Norisring

Qualifying produced a tightly packed grid heading into the Sprint race, with ltras taking pole by just 6 thousands of a second, ahead of Monster. Hunter rounded off the top 3 with 39.59, taking 3rd away from Gaz at the finish. From 1st to 7th, the grid seperated by just 1.3 seconds.

The sprint race started with ltras getting the legs off the field on the start, leading a lights-to-flag victory, untouchable. A race long battle for 2nd place ensued between Monster and Hunter, with Hunter eventually passing him out of turn 3 as he made a mistake. Gaz finished a honorable forth, after intitally keeping in touch with the leading trio, but falling off at the latter stages of the race. Marcus and Zonda rounded up the finishers, with Evo succumbing to a crash exiting the turn 2-3 complex.

The Feature race produced a stunning race-long battle for 2nd, with Hunter eventually coming on top. ltras once again pushed through the field from last place on the reverse grid, getting an early lead after passing Gaz and sailing into the distance after lap 3.
Monster and Hunter both fought up the field, as the leaders faltered. Marcus slid off in turn 1, running wide and giving the inside to Evo, Monster, Hunter and Zonda. Evo passed Monster just before turn 2, however running wide and rejoining resulted in a slight T-bone by Monster, who sent Evo into a spin, thankfully to recover. Hunter was caught up in the incident, falling 3 seconds behind now 3rd placed man Monster. However, what followed were blistering laps, quicker than his Qualifying, to close up on Monster, before an error under braking for turn 1 on lap 5 gave his position away. Both Hunter and Monster chased after Gaz, but Hunter's pace was far too great. Hunter passed Gaz when the Brit made a mistake under brakes on the last lap, leaving the door open also for Monster to slip through.
In the end, it was another impeccable race win for ltras, who once again proved his speed in these agile cars. With back-to-back race wins here in round 1, he looks to be the favourite in this championship.

Finish to the Blackwood 150

Rolling start, and they're off!
The LCS Endurance event, The Blackwood 150, got underway, with the grid order looking like this:
1: HunterHei
2: Luigi
3: Gaz
4: Texas
5: Evolution8
6: MoNsTeR / DNQ
7: ltras23 / DNQ
8: Kumail / DNA
9: SeanLau / DNA
10: IPSO / DNA
11: MateCZ / DNA
HunterHei, powered his XRG Mitsubishi Starion to pole position, a full second clear of second placed Luigi, in his less powerful XFG Citroen AX GTi. Gaz and Texas rounded out the top 4, with Evo scraping in as the last qualifier.
The race began, with Hunter romping away in the race lead. ltras retired, for unforeseen reasons. Gaz, Texas and Luigi fought for 2nd place, while MoNsTeR took a early 1st pitstop, attempting to leapfrog the leaders.
Hunter had built a 15 second lead in a little over 10 laps, and all the while, MoNsTeR was closing up in his XRG. He had closed up the gap to around 4 seconds to Texas, before Luigi took a a wild ride through the grass, beaching himself in the kitty litter, ending his - what was eventful and short, race. The leader's first pitstops took place shortly thereafter.
MoNsTeR elevated himself into 3rd place, with Gaz and Hunter yet to stop ahead.
As Hunter's pit window approached, he had built up such an enourmous lead over Gaz and MoNsTeR, that when he emerged, he was still over 2 seconds of a buffer ahead of the Singaporean driver.
Gaz had pitted, dropping him back into the clutches of Texas.
MoNsTeR was slowly catching Hunter, before he lost control heading into turn 5, ending his race, just short of the halfway mark.
The race carried on, with no further events, with Hunter assuming a gigantic lead, and with only 3 remaining survivors, the race ended, with Hunter grabbing his maiden win in a LCS League Event.

1: HunterHei / 75 laps completed
2: Gaz / 75 laps completed +49.6
3: Texas / 74 laps completed +1 lap
